On Friday 27 July 2007 the Local Government Reform Commission announced a change to council boundaries and now the councils of Dalby, Wambo, Tara, Murilla and Chinchilla and Division 2 of Taroom Shire Council  are to be combined.

The new local government will be called Dalby Regional Council.
